Mountain Music

Mountain Music

When the sunlight fades and falls from sight
And the mountains are filled with the black of night
When the “Night Bird” signals the end of day
The Mountain Music begins to play
Now the players all begin to tune
The stage is lit by the light of the moon
The conductor raises a shadowy wing
And the hilltop wolves begin to sing
A thousand tunes you are sure to hear
Of players now joining from both far and near
All playing different songs always in key
All to be heard and always for free
You’ll surely note it’s an eerie tune
That always gives rise ‘neath a glistening moon
But silently listen and give no applause
Or silence is all that you’re sure to cause
When the sun then again begins to rise
And washes the darkness away from the skies
The players all seem to steal from sight
To play Mountain Music again come the night
